'Op het einde van onze fantastische 6 weken hier is het niet gemakkelijk de aanvankelijke verbazing en verwondering te verwoorden van onze eerste dagen in Hakuna Matata. Dit paradijsje in de oriente is zozeer thuis geworden... een meer dan comfortabel verblijf midden in de bossen met strand, met het helderste water ooit, paarden en de mogelijheid tot avontuurlijke wandelingen. Wat zou een mens nog meer kunnen wensen. Voeg daarbij nog de oneindige gastvrijheid van Rudy en Marcelina en je kent de conclusie: een mens wil hier eigenlijk nooit meer weg!'

'Vroeger leerden ze ons dat het paradijs in de hemel ligt, nu weten we wel beter. We hebben het paradijs gevonden in een klein stukje van Ecuador: ideale setting, superbediening qua drank en eten. Een dikke pluim voor de kokkin. Ontspannen sfeer dankzij jullie gastvrijheid!

Ici, les superlatifs sont de mise. L'endroit est magnifique: un havre de paix. L'accueil n'est pas seulement agréable, mais aussi très attentif et très personnalisé. Que dire de la cuisine! C'est la Rue des Bouchers en mieux.
Durant tout notre séjour, nous avons été aux petits soins d'un couple visiblement amoureux de l'endroit et heureux d'accueillir leurs hôtes. Même la musique est choisie avec un goût très sûr.
Chère Marceline, cher Rüdi, merci de tout cœur pour tout.

Die vielen wunderschönen und abenteuerlichen Eindrücke werden uns noch lange begleiten. Hakuna Matata haben wir als einen Ort zum Wohlfühlen (mmmhhh… und erst das vorzüglich tolle Essen!!!) und zur Entspannung erlebt. Das Team war grandios, danke an Octavio unseren Tollen Guide, an die zwei begabten Köchinnen und natürlich an Marceline und Rudi die diese Oase geschaffen haben und auf eine sehr sympathische Weise führen.
Schwer (+2Kg pro Person mehr an den Hüften) beeindruckt verabschieden wir uns von diesen schönen Flechchen Erde un hoffen auf ein Wiedersehen.

As the last leg of our journey through Ecuador, our stay at Hakuna Matata exceeded all of our expectations. The guides and hotel staff were exceptional, and the abundant food we received at meal times was exquisite (especially the dinners!). Thank you so much for memories that we will cherish forever!

Ort wie diesen zu finden ist nicht einfach und es gibt sie in keinen Katalog. Wir haben ein weiteres Paradies entdeckt und danken für unvergessliche Tage. Nur unseren besten Freunden werden wir von diesem Platz erzählen, damit er immer bleibt, was er ist. Hoffenlich können wir irgendwann wiederkommen.

"Er zijn geen wegen naar geluk, geluk is de weg." Of deze spreuk helemaal opgaat, ben ik nog niet zo zeker, want de hobbelweg hiernaartoe stortte ons in regenachtige maar zeer zalige ervaringen.
Ooit komen we terug om wat nieuwe bomen te manillen, naar de regen te kijken, en te genieten van de gezellige service!

The perfect oasis villa away from home. Coming to Hakuna Matata after three days trek in the jungle was a site for sore eyes. Dinner was unbelievably worth its price. Breakfast always had a touch of something special... And the people! Rudy and Marcelina are precious and warm people. I would adopt them as my parents immediately - for I sure felt at home here.

Na een wat teleurstellende ervaring in de "jungle" bij Misahuallí zijn we een dag eerder dan gepland aangekomen in Hakuna Matata. En dat was een openbaring. Wat een feest om hier te zijn. We hebben genoten van de natuur, paardrijden en het heerlijke eten! Dit gedeelte van onze huwelijksreis is Ecuador is echt heel bijzonder en zullen we nooit meer vergeten. Bedankt voor alles! En tegen onze eigen regels om nooit terug te gaan naar een land wellicht tot ziens (misschien wel in Amsterdam) …

Thank you so much ofr the wonderful visit. We had a fantastic time and will talk about Hakuna Matata back home and send all of our friends. You have created a very special place with delicious food, a warm atmosphere and that special something. We will remember our visit here as a very special part of our honeymoon.

Liebe Marcelinne, lieber Rudi, liebes Hakuna Matata?Team, Als besonderen Tipp des "Reiseknowhow"?Reiseführers kamen wir hier her. Wir müssen sagen: ER hat um ein Vielfaches untertrieben! Hier stimmt einfach alles. Wir haben uns von der ersten Sekunde an wohlgefühlt. Leider konnten wir nur einen Tag bleiben. Aber wir kommen bestimmt wieder - verprochen! Herzlichen Dank für die tolle Gastfreundschaft, und weiterhin Alles Gute für die Dschungel?Lodge mit dem nicht nur tollklingende Namen.

There seems to be only one other visit from England according to the book - my fellow countrypeople don't know what they are missing!
I had 2 days to spare in Tena when I heard about this place. The owners are away, but I have been royally looked after by Octavio, Enma, Carmen. I have been the only guest here for 2 days!
The cabañas are really great - beautifully designed (even hooks on the walls - something I always miss in hotels) and comfortable.
Food is delicious and prepared with love.
Octavio is a jewel - kind, very knowledgeable, passionate about Nature and the environment and speaks very good English. We went on a 5 hour hike today, and when my boots started to hurt, he gave his and walked the rest of the way barefoot - this is what I call service (and always with a smile…).
I will remember this lovely place and hope to come back to it.

Just open your ears and your eyes and all other senses there might be to open. There is really nothing to worry here and I'm leaving totally "cleaned".

Durante mi viaje en Ecuador a veces me parece que viajo de un paraíso al otro. Especialmente aquí me siento muy feliz. La naturaleza, la comida… que puedo decir… increíble.
Pero lo que me encantó más fue la compañía de Enma y Octavio. Aprender tantas cosas de ellos. Para mí son unas personas de lo más amables en este mundo.
Warning: nunca jueguen "Rummi" con Enma, porque seguro que ganará!
